Turn off the vacuum and unplug it from the electrical outlet. Open the vacuum canister in the middle of the unit and remove the vacuum bag.
Use a dry, cotton rag to wipe out the canister that holds the vacuum bag, since it can become dusty. Cleaning the canister area will enhance the vacuum’s performance. Rinse the canister lid in warm water and allow it to dry completely.
Wash the filter at the bottom of the canister in cold water. Allow it to dry. When the canister lid and filter are dry, replace the vacuum bag and reassemble the canister lid and filter.
Unlatch the filter door to open the filter container on the side of the unit. Remove the filter and discard. Replace the filter, using Hoover part number 4363022. Close the filter cover.
Flip the vacuum over to expose the brush roll. Remove the base plate, unscrewing four screws with a Phillips-head screwdriver. Lift off the base plate. Roll the belts to ensure proper functioning. Lift out the brush roller. Wipe any debris out of the brush roller casing with a dry, cotton rag. Cut debris such as hair or string from the brush roller. Put the brush roller back into the casing. Put the base plate back on the machine. Screw the four screws that hold the base plate securely with a Phillips-head screwdriver.
Disconnect the hose to ensure no clogs exist. Put the end of a broom down the hose carefully to dislodge any blockages. Reattach the hose to the vacuum.
