How to Fix the Agitator Brush Button on a Hoover Wind Tunnel Cyclone Vacuum

Hoover’s line of Wind Tunnel vacuums include the bag-less model with cyclonic technology. The agitator brush button is a small, plastic knob on top of the base of the unit that adjusts the brush roll to clean different types of carpets and hard floor surfaces. If the button isn’t working properly, it’s most likely broken in the button’s housing and should be replaced with a new knob.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off the vacuum and unplug it from the electrical outlet.

    • 2

Disconnect the hose from the base of the vacuum. Press the pedal release button and lay the vacuum flat on the floor. Move the hose away from the base of the vacuum.

    • 3

Unscrew the two large screws on the top of the base of the vacuum using a flat-head screwdriver. Set the screws aside.

    • 4

Remove the top cover off the base of the unit.

    • 5

Remove the agitator brush knob by pulling it off. The knob is connected by two prongs. Check to see whether one or both of the prongs are broken. Remove any broken pieces out of the vacuum.

    • 6

Snap on a new knob by connecting the prongs onto the bar in the knob’s housing. Turn the knob back and forth to see whether the agitator brush moves.

    • 7

Reassemble the top cover on the base of the unit. Line up the cover to fit snug against the rubber furniture guard. Screw in the two screws on the top of the unit with a flat-head screwdriver.
