Eureka Boss Battery Problems

Eureka manufactures several models of Boss vacuums, including canister, upright and small handheld models that run on batteries. The Boss is no longer manufactured by Eureka, but the battery is available for purchase directly through Eureka. If the battery is not functioning properly, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue before purchasing a new battery.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the vacuum from the charger. Unplug the charger from the electrical outlet and check its model number. Charger model number A7400 requires a 120-volt outlet, and charger model number HKA-A0740 requires a 230-volt outlet. If the outlet isn’t correct for the charger, the vacuum won’t charge properly.

Press the dust cup latch on the top of the vacuum and remove the dust collection cup. Remove the dust cup then remove the filter from the dust cup. Empty the dust cup and shake off any dirt and debris then do the same for the filter frame.

    • 3

Remove the filter from the filter frame. Wash the filter frame in warm water and mild dish detergent. Rinse the filter and allow it to air-dry completely.

    • 4

Flip over the handle of the vacuum to expose the battery cover. Insert a small, flat head screwdriver under the battery cover and pop it off. Remove the battery. Check inside the battery casing area and blow out any dust or debris. Replace the battery then snap the battery cover back onto the unit.

    • 5

Replace the filter onto the filter frame then replace the filter frame onto the dust cup. Insert the filter back into the dust collection cup. Reattach the dust collection cup onto the handle.

Plug the vacuum’s base into an outlet that’s appropriate for the charger's model number. Place the vacuum back into the base. Allow the vacuum to charge for at least 14 hours before using it.
