Cleaning the oven is a demanding, time-consuming job unless you maintain it on a clean-as-you-use basis. Cleaning it after each use requires extra time after dinner, but this eliminates the need to make it an all-day project at the end of each week. In addition, making use of natural, everyday household ingredients to mix cleansers allows the homemaker to clean at any time without danger from caustic chemicals.
Remove baked-on food with a heavy-duty plastic brush.
Apply a thick paste made of equal parts salt and baking soda mixed with water to baked-on food stains while the oven is still warm.
Allow the paste to set for five minutes, and then scrub the stains with a nonabrasive pad, applying more paste as necessary.
Rub the stains gently with a very fine stainless steel pad to remove stubborn stains.
Wipe the inside of the oven with a clean cloth liberally moistened with distilled white vinegar to retard grease buildup.
