How to Remove Burnt Sugar Stains on Glass Cook Tops

A glass cook top is both aesthetically pleasing and efficient in the kitchen. Glass on the cook top helps distribute heat evenly for more efficient cooking. To keep your glass cook top in excellent condition, you must clean it carefully to avoid scratching the glass. As sugar-based solutions are heated on the stove top, they can burn when cooked at too high a temperature for too long. You can remove burnt sugar stains from your glass cook top with supplies that are safe for glass cleaning.

Things You'll Need

  • Clean cloth
  • White vinegar
  • Ceramic and glass cook top cleaner
  • Razor-edged scraper
  • Nylon mesh sponge
  • Paper towels

Instructions

    • 1

Dampen a clean cloth with white vinegar. Wring out the excess liquid.

    • 2

Lay the vinegar cloth on the burnt sugar stain. Leave the cloth on the stove top for five to 10 minutes to soften the burnt sugar stain.

    • 3

Remove the vinegar-dampened cloth from the stove top. Squirt a nickel-sized amount of commercial cleaner for ceramic and glass stove tops onto the remaining sugar stain.

    • 4

Scrape the softened sugar stain with a razor-edged scraper. Wipe up the loosened stain with a cloth.

    • 5

Moisten a nylon mesh sponge with vinegar. Scrub any remaining sugar residue off the cook top.

    • 6

Dry the glass cook top with paper towels.
