How to Get Rid of Oven Smell

No one enjoys an nasty smell coming from the oven. Ovens can begin smelling for a few different reasons; spilled food can burn in the oven and food debris can accumulate in the bottom of the oven. When you turn your oven on, this material will burn, causing your kitchen to smell. Here are a few earth-friendly cleaning solutions for your oven smell.

Things You'll Need

  • Vinegar
  • Baking Soda
  • Scrub Brush
  • Liquid soap
  • Borax
  • Spray bottle

Instructions

      Coat the entire inside of the oven with a solution of baking soda and water, and let this sit overnight. Make sure to pull out the catch-tray on the bottom and clean underneath where the burners are, as well. Scrub off the baking soda solution in the morning.

      Spray on a solution of 2 tsp. liquid soap, plus 2 tsp. Borax mixed with warm water. Let sit for a few hours and then scrub off.

      Pour vinegar over any remaining areas and let sit for several hours. Then scrub off using a heavy brush. This should remove any of the major remaining dirt that is causing smells.
