How to Clean a Kenmore Humidifier 14312

The Kenmore Humidifier 14312 is a central humidifier that connects to your air conditioning unit or your heater to add humidity to your home in a dry climate. Every few months of use the humidifier should be cleaned for it to filter air and water properly through its system. Hard water buildup also causes the Kenmore humidifier to work less effectively, so cleaning off lime and calcium buildup is a must.

Things You'll Need

  • Vinegar
  • Cloth
  • Filter pad

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off the air conditioner unit or heater and unplug the humidifier from the power outlet.

    • 2

Slide off the plastic panel and lift the cover over the humidifier.

    • 3

Remove the reservoir and the media wheel. Empty the reservoir down a drain.

    • 4

Pour a mixture of 2 parts vinegar and 1 part water into the reservoir and let it soak for 20 to 30 minutes. Rinse out the mixture with water and scrub the reservoir to remove any built up lime or calcium deposits.

    • 5

Remove the filter pad from the media wheel and discard. Rinse off the media wheel in running water. Slide the new filter pad into the grooves on the side of the media wheel.

    • 6

Replace the reservoir and the media wheel in the humidifier. Close the cover and replace the panel. Plug in the humidifier and turn the air conditioner or heater back on.
