How to Clean a Duet Dryer

The Whirlpool Duet dryer is part of a series of energy-saving front-load washers and dryers. No matter which type of Whirlpool Duet dryer you own, it will collect residue and stains and build up lint from regular use. Stains can transfer to your laundry, and accumulated lint can slow down drying time or even cause overheating. The Whirlpool website recommends using mild products to clean the dryer interior and exterior. Clean your Whirlpool Duet dryer regularly, and empty the lint screen after each load for optimal performance.

Things You'll Need

  • Soft brush
  • Mild dish detergent or liquid soap
  • Towels
  • Cloths
  • Nonflammable all-purpose cleaner

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off the dryer and remove any items from the inside.

    • 2

Remove the lint screen from inside the door frame. Roll the lint off the screen.

    • 3

Rinse the lint screen with hot water. Clean it with a soft brush and two or three drops of mild dish detergent or liquid soap.

    • 4

Rinse the lint screen thoroughly with hot water and shake off any excess. Dry it with a towel and set it into place in the lint screen compartment.

    • 5

Dampen a cloth with nonflammable all-purpose cleaner. Wipe out the dryer drum to remove any stains and residue. Rinse the drum with a clean, damp cloth.

    • 6

Clean the exterior of the dryer, the control panel and the door with a cloth and all-purpose cleaner.

    • 7

Place a load of clean towels in the dryer and set the dryer to the "Normal" cycle to dry the interior.
