How to Degrease Stovetop Grates

Stove manufacturers make stove grates from cast iron to withstand heat and repeated use. Splatters from foods fried in oil, sizzling bacon or accidental spills lead to a buildup of grease and grime. The continued accumulation on stovetop grates can cause a kitchen fire, if left untended. Grease-covered stove grates make the kitchen look dirty, unkempt and dangerous, so use common household products to remove grease.

    • 23

Twist the top of the bag closed and let the grates sit overnight.

    • 24

Open the top of the bag carefully with the opening directed away from your face to prevent breathing in the harmful fumes.
