Fire Alarm Installation Instructions

Fire alarms are designed to detect rapid temperature increases throughout a house. Unlike a smoke alarm, which detects traces of harmful chemicals commonly found in smoke, fire alarms come equipped with tiny heat sensors. Installing your own fire alarm is quick and easy. Even if you already have smoke detectors, adding a fire alarm only strengthens your home defense against potential fires.

Things You'll Need

  • Small drill
  • Screwdriver

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the metal mount from the fire alarm packaging and gather the screws it came with.

    • 2

Drill the mount to the designated area for the fire alarm. Don't strip the screws, but make sure it's a snug fit. The mount will hold the alarm in place.

    • 3

Fasten the fire alarm to the metal mount, using the screwdriver and the aligning slots.

    • 4

Test the alarm. Most units have a "Test" button that can convey the functionality of the alarm. Some fire alarm systems may require additional testing. Refer to the instructions included with the fire alarm unit for proper testing procedures.
