How to Change a Backup Smoke Detector Battery

Smoke detectors are an essential part of home safety and security, alerting you to any detected fire smoke. The alarm will release a high-pitched beeping noise if smoke is detected. Hard-wired smoke detectors have back up batteries in case the power gets cut, the devices will continue to work. If the batteries in the smoke detector are not in working order, the smoke detector becomes useless and the results of that could be devastating. Be sure to check the battery life once a month, replacing the batteries at least once a year.
