Reinstalling a Smoke Detector After Replacing the Battery

Battery-operated smoke detectors are an inexpensive way to give you and your home's occupants peace of mind when it comes to fire and smoke detection. Battery-operated detectors need no hard wiring and can be mounted directly to the ceiling or walls of you home. To ensure reliability when needed, the batteries should be replaced in your detectors once each year. The battery compartment is usually located within the detector, necessitating the removal of the detector from the mounting bracket for access.
