Can Fire Alarms Work With Other Protection Systems?

Fire alarms provide indication of structure fires while its occupants are sleeping or otherwise occupied. They may be unmonitored and give an audible signal for occupants to vacate, or monitored and give the audible indication as well as trigger a response by emergency officials. These safety devices can be integrated with other protection systems for well-rounded safety monitoring.

  1. Intruder Alarms

    • Fire alarms may be integrated with monitored intruder alarms. This union may allow control of the fire monitoring equipment through the intruder alarm keypad and response by the same company’s monitoring center.

    Carbon Monoxide Alarms

    • Many states have passed legislation requiring occupied dwellings to have carbon monoxide monitoring devices. Combination fire and carbon monoxide alarms have been manufactured to meet both needs with one device.

    Closed-Circuit Television

    • Fire alarms may be integrated with closed-circuit television systems. This integration has two distinct advantages. It can aid in preventing false alarm response expenses by allowing the owner to verify the presence of a fire, and may aid in the investigation after a fire to prevent future occurrences.
