How to Recycle Aluminum Chips

Recycling is the process of taking garbage that would normally fill up a landfill and using it again in some other way. Although aluminum is a recyclable material, aluminum chips aren't usually included in the products that can be picked up by a usual recycling organization. These chips are found in electronics and in other items made from pure aluminum. As long as you can find the right facility, however, you can recycle aluminum chips.

  Remove the aluminum chips from whatever item or electronic device they are in. Take out all of the wires and remove any fasteners from the chips. You want the aluminum chips to be completely separated from any other materials in order to recycle them.

  Locate a facility that is not only a recycling facility but also a scrap metal recycling facility. It must say "scrap metal recycling" on it for it to take aluminum chips. You cannot take them to a regular recycling facility.

  Take the aluminum chips to the scrap metal facility. Find the main information office and ask what the current price is. Then take your chips into the facility. They will be weighed, and you'll get money based on what the current going rate is.
