How to Use a Sentry Combo Safe

Sentry combination safes are used to secure and protect valuable objects and paperwork. The safes come in a variety of models and feature three or four number combinations and, for some models, a key for added security. Sentry safes have a specific method for entering a combination. Not only do you need the numbers to the combination, you need to know how to enter them with the dial. Any deviation from the method will keep the safe from opening.

Instructions

  1. Three-Number Combination

    • 1

Turn the dial until it rests on zero. When entering the combination to the safe, the dial must always start on zero.

    • 2

Rotate the dial to the left three full rotations and then stop at the first number in the combination. A full rotation is when the dial passes the zero.

    • 3

Turn the dial to the right two full rotations and stop at the second number in the combination. A full turn is complete when the dial passes the first number in the combination.

    • 4

Enter the final number in the combination by turning the dial to the left one full rotation and stop at the third number. A full turn is complete when the dial passes the second number in the combination.

    • 5

Insert the key into the keyhole, turn it to the right and pull open the door. This step is only applicable to combination safes that include a key.

    Four-Number Combination

    • 6

Set the dial to zero. The dial must be set to zero before entering the combination.

    • 7

Turn the dial to the left four times and stop at the first number in the combination. A full turn is complete when the dial passes the zero.

    • 8

Rotate the dial to the right three times and stop at the second number in the combination. A full rotation is complete when the dial passes the first number in the combination.

    • 9

Turn the dial to the left two times and stop at the third number in the combination. A full turn is complete when the dial passes the second number in the combination.

    • 10

Rotate the dial to the right one time and stop at the fourth number in the combination to finish entering the combination. A full rotation is complete when the dial passes the third number in the combination.

    • 11

Insert the key into the keyhole and turn it to the right if your safe has the key option.

    • 12

Open the door by pulling on it.
