Determine the proper location for the gun safe. Consider your access proximity. The safe should be close enough that you can reach it in the regrettable event someone has belligerently entered your home. Its proximity to children in the home should also be considered heavily. Guns, as well as anything locked up, create strong curiosities in children; the old adage, "out of sight, out of mind," lends well to this situation.
On a wood-framed floor system, locate the floor joists beneath the safe's prospective resting place as you will need to fasten the lag bolts to the joists. Position the safe over the joists and lag the safe securely to the floor.
On a concrete floor, Drill out four 3/4-inch anchor bolt holes in the concrete in alignment with the installation holes found in the floor of the safe. Pound the concrete anchor sleeves into the pilot holes. Anchor the safe to the floor by tightening the 1/2-inch anchor bolts to the concrete anchor sleeves.
