Instructions

    • 1

Open the book to a place at least 20 pages in from the front. Paper clip together the first pages of the book to keep them out of the way.

    • 2

Draw your safe interior outline on the right hand page of the book. Make the outline large enough to hold money and other valuables, but don't take up more than half the surface of the page.

    • 3

Cut through the pages of the book along the outline that you have drawn. Depending on your craft knife or cutter, you will be able to cut through a number of pages at once. Cut all the way around the perimeter of the outline, and remove the cut-out page pieces.

    • 4

Cut down through the next layers of pages, using the same outline. Remove the page pieces that you cut out. Continue cutting layers of pages and removing the page interiors until you have reached a reasonable depth for your safe interior. Leave at least 20 pages at the end of the book.

    • 5

Cut out a piece of felt the same size as your safe interior. Glue it to the bottom of the hole that you cut in the pages. Cut out a strip of felt the same size as the safe interior and clue it to the sides of the page hole. Paint a thin layer of glue all around the outside edges of the pages that make up the safe. Allow the glue to dry completely before using the safe.
