How to Change the Combination on a Cannon Patriot Safe

Cannon Patriot Series safes have commercial-grade Type-1 electronic locks and keypads (a Group 2 dial lock can be special-ordered). Cannon Safe uses three main commercial brands of electronic locks: Sargent and Greenleaf (S&G), Loss Prevention (LP) and LaGard. The lock brand can also vary by series model. Because of this variety of locks, to change the combination on your Canon Patriot safe you must determine the lock brand and then use a brand-specific sequence on the lock keypad.

Instructions

Contact Cannon customer service or technical support at 800-242-1055 and ask for assistance in determining the brand of electronic lock used on your Cannon Patriot safe. You can also follow the links in the Resources section to compare the lock on your safe to the product images for each brand.

Open the door to your safe and put it in locked mode. To put the door in locked mode, turn the handle to throw the bolts and/or push up on the lever (if applicable) at the bottom of the open door.

Change your lock combination. If you have a LaGard lock, enter "0" six times on the keypad, enter your existing code, then enter your new code. For an LP lock, press and hold the "0" key until the LED blinks twice. Enter your old code, followed by your new code, then reenter your new code (the new code will be confirmed each time by two LED blinks). If you have an S&G lock, enter "7 4 * (existing code) #" on the keypad, wait for five beeps, then enter "1 * " on the keypad. Enter your new six-digit code, then reenter the code (each entry will be confirmed by three beeps).
