The batteries in your Honeywell Digital Home Safe power the digital pad where you enter your passcode. When the batteries die, the digital pad stops working and you can only open the safe with the key. Changing your safe's batteries is similar to changing the batteries in any other appliances. The trick is locating the battery compartment, which Honeywell has hidden in plain sight, just below the digital keypad.

     Locate the triangle on the battery compartment. Press on the triangle and push the battery compartment cover downward until it slides off.

     Remove the old batteries.

     Place the new batteries in the battery compartment, placing the negative end of each battery against a spring.

     Slide the battery compartment cover up into place. Enter your passcode on the digital keypad to verify that the new batteries are installed properly.
