How to Hide a Home Safe

While a home safe is the best place to keep your valuables, it won’t do much good if the safe is out in the open. Hiding your home safe in a secure location is the only way to keep it from the peeping eyes of intruders. There are a few types of home safes that are unmovable, such as wall and floor safes, but if you have a safe that is not attached to your house, you should hide it somewhere secure.

  Measure the size of your home safe so you know the space into which it will fit. If you have a small home safe, you will be able to hide it in more areas than a larger home safe.

  Place a small home safe in an empty cereal box in the pantry or in a detergent box in the laundry room. Both places are too mundane for burglars to look for money. In fact, some home safes are disguised to look like everyday household objects.

  Place a larger home safe in a storage box under a pile of old clothes, photos, or something else with no value. Store the box in a closet, attic or basement. Stack other boxes in front of it, so a burglar will be less likely to reach it.
