How to Reset Sentry Safes

Sentry safe is ideal to protect your jewelry, money, and important documents -- any items you deem valuable. Sentry safe combinations should be changed frequently to prevent unauthorized people from gaining access to your valuables. According to the Sentry owner's manual, the factory code can never be deleted and always be used to reset the safe combination. If you have a manual lock combination, only a qualified locksmith can open the safe. These instructions apply to a Sentry safe with electronic locks.

Instructions

  Press the "PROG" key and enter the factory code twice. The instruction manual will have the code, usually in front of the manual. This method will remove any old codes programmed into the safe. Ideally, it is good to reset the combination with the safe open, so you don't lock yourself out.

  Press the "PROG" key again. Type your safe's factory five-digit code on the keypad.

  Type a new five-digit code of your choosing. This will be your user code. Although the factory code cannot be erased or changed; your user code can be changed as often as you feel warranted. Only you should know your user code.

  Re-enter your user code to ensure it's working properly.
