How to Bolt a Safe to a Concrete Floor

Place the safe onto the floor in the location where you want to install it and open the safe door. Look inside to locate the hole or holes used to bolt down the safe.

Reach inside the safe and insert the tip of a black marker into the bolt hole or holes to mark their location on the concrete floor.

Move the safe out of the way so that you have plenty of room to work.

Insert a concrete drill bit into a corded drill and plug the cord into an electrical outlet. Put on a dust mask and safety glasses to protect yourself from concrete dust and chips.

Place the center of the drill bit into the center of the black marker spot(s) on the concrete floor. Turn the drill on and create one or more 3- to 4-inch deep holes in the concrete floor.

Vacuum up all of the concrete dust from the area that was created during drilling.

Move the safe back into the original position and line up the hole(s) in the floor with the hole(s) in the safe.

Insert a masonry bolt into the hole inside the safe and tap the top of the bolt two or three times with a hammer to drive it down. Place a pair of pliers on the nut at the top of the bolt and turn it clockwise until it is tight and no longer turns. This expands the bottom edge of the bolt into the concrete. Repeat as needed if the safe has more than one hole.
