How to Change the Combination for a 5401D Key Storage Box

The Master Lock 5401D is a metal wall-mount key storage security safe sometimes referred to as a key storage box. It holds and protects as many as five keys at a time. The 5401D has a flip style storage compartment door held securely shut by a multiple-dial combination lock hidden behind a weather-resistant shutter door. Additionally, the safe has a reset lever inside. The lever allows you to change the four-digit combination used to open the safe to any number combination.

  Lower the shutter door on the front of the Master Lock 5401D key storage box.

  Turn the dials to your existing combination or the factory "0000" combination if you're changing the combination for the first time.

  Push the key storage compartment door release button. Flip open the door.

  Slide the combination reset lever -- near the bottom right corner of the door -- in its groove to the left and then down.

  Align the dials to a new combination of your choice and then move the reset lever in the groove back to its starting position.

  Flip up the compartment door to close it. Rearrange the dials so the numbers of the combination don't align.

  Realign the dials to the new combination. Push the release button to open the door.
