How to Unlock a Sentry Safe Without the Electronic Code

All Sentry safes come with a combination lock that allows you to manually open the safe with the correct combination. The safes come with either a three- or four-number combination printed on the owner's manual. These combinations cannot be changed. If you cannot open the safe using the electronic code, turn the dial on the outside of the safe and enter the three- or four-number combination to retrieve your valuables inside.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn the safe's handle so it is all the way up and in a horizontal position.

    • 2

Insert the safe's key into the lock on the outside of the safe. Turn the key clockwise until the plunger pops out. Remove the key.

    • 3

Turn the combination dial to zero. Make sure the pointer is pointed at the zero.

    • 4

Turn the dial to the left, passing the zero three times. On the fourth rotation, stop at the first number of the combination. The pointer above the combination dial should be pointing at the first number.

    • 5

Turn the dial to the right and stop at the second number of the combination.

    • 6

Turn the dial to the left and stop at the third number of the combination. If there are four numbers in the combination, turn the dial to the right and stop at the fourth number in the combination.

    • 7

Pull on the safe's handle to open the safe. If you entered the combination incorrectly, repeat the steps, as the safe will not open.
