Instructions for Digital Safes

Digital safes are an effective way to store your possessions and to keep them safe. However, if all you're used to is a lock and key box safe, this might seem like it's above your head. But don't worry: digital safes are actually pretty easy to operate, once you get a handle on their inner workings.

Instructions

Input the safe's code into the keypad. If correct, the safe will inform you with a beep or light. Safes with LCD screens will sometimes say "Open." Quickly turn the safe's handle to the open position. Most safes will give you about five seconds to do this before relocking. If the safe locks, re-input the code and try again.

Open the safe door and locate the internal "Reset" button. Press the "Reset" button. You will be prompted through a beep, light or message to input a new combination code. Input this now. Once the new code is in, you might have to press the "Star" or "Pound" key to confirm the new code. Lock the safe and try the new code.

Open the safe door once again. Find the location of the battery compartment and remove the battery door. Replace the old batteries with new ones. Normally, this will require two or four AA batteries. Close the battery door, then relock the safe.
