Theme Balloon Decorating

Pick two or three colors to enhance the theme of your party. For instance, if it is a school party to celebrate the homecoming football game, choosing the school colors is an excellent way to reflect school spirit. Cluster the balloons together with equal amounts of the theme colors for the best effect.

Consider the mood of the party when picking the balloons. Iridescent or pearlized balloons add a romantic look to an elegant party such as a wedding reception or a black-tie affair. Neon-colored balloons make a funky addition to a party for a pre-teen and pastel balloons are perfect for baby or bridal showers. Black balloons aren't just for someone who is celebrating an "over the hill" birthday, they create an elegant, classic look when combined with silver or white balloons.

Purchase balloons that are theme-oriented if possible. For instance, if the party is a 25th class reunion or someone's 50th birthday party, be sure to include these numerals on several mylar balloons throughout the party room. If you are throwing a casino party, choose mylar balloons with pictures of dice, playing cards or the word "jackpot" on them.

Tie a weight onto the end of the streamers to hold the balloons in place during the party. You can make inexpensive table centerpieces by adding 4-feet long streamers to a cluster of balloons and adding the weight so they won't move. Another idea is to tie them to the backs of the chairs.

Add balloons to the mailbox of your home to make it uncomplicated to find for the party guests. Another idea is to surround the entrance of the party room with the themed balloons and use them to highlight the buffet table or food area.
