How to Make a Picture Frame Wall Safe

Buy a wall safe that matches your needs. Buy one that fits your budget and is the correct size to hold all of your property. Most wall safes now have keypad locks, although biometric locks are becoming increasingly affordable.

Measure the dimensions of the wall safe for installation into the wall. Draw these dimensions onto an area of wall using the bubble level and ruler to ensure that it is accurate.

Scan the area you have selected with a stud finder and wire finder. Turn off the electricity to the room you are working in, even if you do not find any wires. Once you have checked the area for studs, wires and pipes, you can proceed.

Hammer a hole in the center of the area where the safe will go. This will allow you to insert the saw. Cut the shape out using the saw, ensuring that you stay as close to the pencil line as possible.

Place the safe into the cavity you have created. Although each model of safe will differ in its precise installation, you will usually have to screw bolts from inside the safe. These will be provided with the safe. Read the instructions thoroughly. If you wish, you can insert nails or brackets to support the safe even more.

Align the picture you are framing so it will hang over the safe and will not be pushed away from the wall. Place a wall hook in the appropriate place and hang the picture. Once you have done this, your wall safe will be covered and should be more secure.
