Why Won't My Sentry Key Work on My Sentry Safe?

Sentry safes protect important documents and other valuables from unwanted intruders and thieves. Sentry safes are of a high quality, offering both water resistance and fire resistance to protect the contents inside from floods and fires.
  1. Lock Types

    • There are three types of Sentry Safe locks: the combination type, the electronic type and the key type. The combination type and the electronic type are usually equipped with a Sentry key for added protection. On rare occasions, a key might not open a Sentry Safe.

    Troubleshoot 1

    • If the key doesn't seem to open the Sentry Safe, it may have been turned in the wrong direction. Insert the Sentry key in the keyhole and turn it counter-clockwise as opposed to clockwise.

    Troubleshoot 2

    • When the Sentry key doesn't physically turn in the keyhole, it means that the tumblers inside the keyhole may have been damaged. Contact the Sentry Safe company by email or on the phone for additional help.
