How to Open a Broken Dial on a 1250 Sentry Safe

The Sentry Safe 1250, opens using a 3 or 4-number combination dial. When the dial is working properly, you can open it in a few seconds. However, a broken dial makes opening the safe extremely difficult. In fact, you will likely have to break into the safe. Many methods used for breaking into safes require years of training and experience. The two groups of people skilled at breaking into safes are burglars and locksmiths. Chances are, you'd much rather have a locksmith breaking into your Sentry 1250 safe, than a burglar.

  Jot down relevant information about your Sentry 1250 safe. Write down the model and serial numbers. The serial number on the safe is located underneath the edge of the front lock plate, or on the back of the safe.

  Contact your local locksmiths. Tell them that you have Sentry 1250 safe with a broken dial. Provide them with the serial number. Get quotes for the cost of opening the safe, and installing or repairing the broken dial. Make sure the locksmith is bonded, insured, licensed and certified.

  Take the safe to the locksmith. The locksmith will open the safe. If the dial is not damaged beyond repair, the locksmith can likely repair or replace the broken dial.
