How to Use Honeywell Safes

Using any kind of home safe is a secure way to store important materials. Most Honeywell safes combine a key-operated lock with an electronic keypad. This system is put in place to ensure you may access your materials even if you forget your pass code. While this makes things more secure, it can also be confusing, especially if you've lost the manual. If you remember a basic steps, however, operating your Honeywell safe is simple.

Enter the preset factory code to open your safe for the first time. This number is unique to the kind of safe and may be found in the instruction manual. A green light above the keypad will indicate the door is unlocked. If you do not open the door within five seconds of entering the code it will relock.

Reenter the passcode if the red light above the key pad lights up. This indicates the code was entered incorrectly.

Locate the small red button on the inside of the safe door. This is the memory button, and pushing it allows you to enter your own personal pass code. A yellow light above the key pad indicates you can enter a new pass code. The lock will also beep twice.

Select a new pass code of three to eight digits and press the b key to finish. The safe will beep again. Do not close the door until you've tested the code. Try entering the number while inspecting the locking mechanism to ensure the door locks properly.
