Sentry Safe AS-1 Instructions

The SentrySafe AS-1 auto safe is a black, compact, lightweight safe made of aluminum and steel designed to prevent thieves from grabbing it or the valuables it protects -- cash or a checkbook, electronics such as phones, cameras or storage devices, documents or jewelry -- during a "smash and grab" theft from a car, truck, RV or boat. The AS-1 design includes an interior door hinge to prevent thieves from prying away the door, two steel locking bolts that turn via a key and a 31.5-inch vinyl-coated steel cable that secures the safe to your vehicle.

Instructions

    • 1

Choose an area in your vehicle in the front or back passenger foot well or trunk to attach the safe via the cable around or through a bolted down object such as the metal frame where a seat attaches to the vehicle or a metal eyelet.

    • 2

Select one of the included anti-slip protection accessories -- two hook and loop fastener tape pieces, four rubber discs or carpet clip -- to prevent the safe from sliding around once you secure it. The hook and loop fastener tape works on carpet and the rubber discs work on velour or standard carpet, wood and rubber. The carpet clip screws into carpet or a mat and allows the safe to turn 90 degrees while in position.

    • 3

Attach the accessory that you chose. If you're using the hook and loop fastener tape or rubber discs, remove the paper backing from the pieces, attach the pieces to the bottom plastic ends or corners of the safe -- tape at the ends; discs to the corners. If you're using the carpet clip, position the safe with the lid open where you want it and insert the tip of a piece of chalk or pencil in the pre-drilled holes in the bottom of the safe to mark the carpet or mat beneath. Remove the safe, hand-screw the clip into place at these marks until it's finger tight and then place the safe in position on the clip.

    • 4

Hold the non-looped end of the steel cable in your hand and slide it around the bolted object or through the metal eyelet you chose and then thread the end through the loop on the other end of the cable. Tug on the end that you're holding to slide the loop toward the object or eyelet. Insert the end into the left or right side cable lock port on the safe and then slide it toward the front of the safe along the groove.

Insert one of your keys into the keyhole on the safe door, shut the door and turn the key to lock the safe. Tug on the safe and cable to make certain that you secured both correctly. When finished, re-open the door and place your valuables as needed.
