How to Make the Entry Code on a Sentry Safe

All Sentry safes come with either a three or four-digit combination lock that cannot be changed. Some safes also have an electronic lock with a keypad. Only these safes' access codes can be changed. They come with a factory-set code on the safe's user manual. This code is stored on file with Sentry and is unique to your safe and one-of-a-kind serial code. This code can be retrieved if the combination is ever lost or forgotten. Coming up with your own user code can help protect your safe and the valuables stored inside.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn the electronic lock clockwise from the 12 o'clock position to 2 o'clock position. The battery compartment will open.

    • 2

Insert four AA batteries. This will help power the electronic lock.

    • 3

Enter the factory code using the electronic keypad. This can be found on the first page of the safe's user guide. Once entered, the safe's light will turn green. You then have 4 seconds to turn the handle and open the door.

Close the safe's door. The safe must be opened and batteries must be installed before a custom user code can be programmed. Only one custom code can be programmed.

    • 5

Press the "Prog" key on the front of the safe. This can be found on the electronic keypad.

    • 6

Enter a custom five-digit user code using the keypad.

Re-enter the five-digit user code to complete the process.
