How to Mount a Cannon Safe to a Floor

Cannon safes keep your valuables away from unwanted hands. Once locked inside, your belongings are nearly impossible to get to without the proper combination. The safe itself can be a security issue, however, unless it's properly mounted. A safe serves little good if the thief walks away with it, getting away with your valuables at the same time. Bolting the safe to the floor though, will keep that from occurring. It only takes a few minutes but after completion, you can rest easy knowing your safe stays where you place it, no matter what the occurrence.

Instructions

    • 1

Select a position for your safe with the rear of the safe against a wall. Choose a location that's as level as possible and one that sits on top of a concrete slab. Make sure there's enough room to open the safe door completely to allow access to the entire interior of the unit.

    • 2

Clear out the safe, removing all contents including any shelving. Move the safe into position. Check that it's level using a carpenter's level. If it isn't, place wood shims beneath the low corners to level out the safe.

    • 3

Drill through the four predrilled holes in the bottom of the safe through the floor and into the concrete slab below using an electric drill with masonry drill bit. Make the holes deep enough to hold the anchors at a depth of 2 to 3 inches. Pull the drill from the hole and use a vacuum with hose attachment to suck the dust from the drilled hole.

Insert the sleeve anchor bolts through the drilled holes until they extend 2 to 3 inches into the concrete slab and the bolt head lies flush with the slab. Tighten the bolt head with a wrench to flare the casing on the end of the bolts in the concrete, holding the bolt securely in place and preventing the safe from moving. Bolt the safe through all four holes.
