How to Troubleshoot a Honeywell VR8204A 2050

The Honeywell 2050 is a small home safe from home security giants Honeywell which utilizes electronic systems and associated keylocks to secure your items; that is, of course, assuming your safe is in proper working order. If you suffer from issues such as forgetting your code, dead batteries or lost emergency keys, then you may find yourself locked out by the very system designed to help you. Luckily, these issues can be remedied.

Instructions

    • 1

Use your emergency override key if you forget your passcode for the safe. To do this, remove the four AA batteries and insert one of the emergency override keys into

the bypass lock located behind the batteries. Turn the key to the right and rotate the knob clockwise to pull the safe's door open.

    • 2

Replace the batteries at least once a year, or when the safe appears to be dead and without power. Remove the four dead batteries and replace with four new Alkaline AA batteries. For proper use, ensure the batteries are installed in the proper direction.

    • 3

Clean the safe in order to retain its original aesthetic quality. You should use a mild cleaner to avoid scratching or discoloring on the surface and never use abrasive cleansers on the safe or digital keypad which might damage the mechanisms.

    • 4

Replace a lost key by contacting Honeywell. Take note of the safe model number, the serial number, the key number located on the key and the emergency override key lock cover, and the number of keys requested.
