How to Troubleshoot a Brinks Home Fireproof Safe

If you have valuables in your home that you would like to keep there, a home safe, such as a Brinks fireproof safe, is the answer. Not only can you be sure your valuables will be protected but even if there is a fire the items in the safe will remain unharmed. These safes are electronic so it is possible for issues to arise about how to use one properly. In these instances there are quick ways to troubleshoot the unit.

Instructions

    • 1

Check the door of the safe if it isn't closing properly. Check to see if there is anything obstructing the doorway that might prevent the door from closing completely.

    • 2

Enter your personal three- to eight-digit passcode on the keypad. Pull the handle down before trying to open the door of the safe.

    • 3

Enter one of the two emergency override keys you received upon purchase of the safe into the bypass lock on the front if you forgot your passcode. Turn the key and pull the handle up to open the safe.

    • 4

Press the "B" key on the keypad and press it. If an LED light flashes and you hear a beep it signals that the internal batteries that power the electrical system are good. If a red light flashes it means you have less than two months of power left.

    • 5

Locate the battery compartment on the back of the door and press down on its right side. Slide the compartment panel to the left to remove it.

    • 6

Remove the four AA batteries and replace them with new ones. Replace the cover.
