How to Reprogram a Brinks Security Safe Model 5072

Brinks is a company that makes safes and offers home and business security services. The Brinks model 5072 is a user-programmable safe designed to allow users to choose and change their own pass codes as often as they like. Manual locking safes require changing by a certified locksmith, but programmable safes are simple to change as often as desired and the process takes approximately five minutes. It is recommended that the safe code be changed on average every three to six months for optimum security.

Instructions

    • 1

Type the existing code into the safe’s keypad and press the “A” button to complete the sequence. Lower the handle into the vertical position and pull the safe door open.

    • 2

Locate the small red button on the inside of the safe door. Push the button and hold it for two seconds. The lock on the outside of the door will beep twice and the keypad will illuminate.

    • 3

Enter a new code onto the keypad. Choose something easy to remember and between three and eight numbers.

    • 4

Push and hold the “B” key for two seconds until the keypad beeps another two times and the keypad illuminates. If you don’t hear a beep and see the keypad light up, the code was not accepted. Repeat the process of inputting a new code.

    • 5

Lift the lock handle to the horizontal position while the door is still open. Wait approximately five seconds or until you see and hear the lock operate. Test the handle to ensure it doesn’t rotate.

    • 6

Press the keypad to input the new code and push the “A” key when complete. You should hear an audible unlocking process. Rotate the handle to the vertical position to verify that the lock is released.
