How to Figure Out the Combination to a Touchpad Home Safe

A home safe protects your important documents, photos, money and other valuables from theft and damage. Some safes have a touchpad or keypad that you use to enter a sequence of numbers to open the unit. If you have lost or forgotten your combination, you can hire a locksmith to open the safe. Fortunately, there are a few other options. If you registered your safe online, you can look up the combination; if you did not register, you can submit a combination request form to the manufacturer.

Instructions

    • 1

Open your Web browser and navigate to the safe manufacturer's website, if you registered the safe online. Log in to your account to retrieve the combination. If you did not register prior to losing the combination, you won’t be able to use this service. Go on to the next step.

    • 2

Request a combination request form from the safe manufacturer. Most companies provide these forms online. Download and print the form.

    • 3

Fill out the combination request form. Provide your name, address and phone number, as well as the make, model and serial number of your safe. Look for the serial number below the touch pad or on the outer wall on the right side of the safe.

    • 4

Make a copy of your driver's license, if the manufacturer indicates that doing so is required.

    • 5

Notarize the request form, if required. A notary’s seal confirms that you identified yourself to the notary's satisfaction and you are who you claim to be.

    • 6

Mail the completed request form and any other required documents to the safe manufacturer. Be sure to remit the combination request fee, if applicable. The safe company will look up your combination and send it to you via land mail or email.
