Instructions

    • 1

Fold the piece of cardboard in half so that when folded, the piece is 10 by 10 inches. Open it back up.

    • 2

Tape two sheets of tinfoil that are each about 5 by 10 inches on the inside of the cardboard near the outer edges. When you fold the cardboard back in half, the two pieces of tinfoil line up, and fully cover each other. The two pieces of aluminum foil should not touch when you unfold the cardboard. Use electrical tape or Super Glue to attach the aluminum foil to the cardboard.

    • 3

Strip the plastic coating from both ends of two 10-inch pieces of wire, and from the ends of the wiring harness. Remove about 1 inch of the plastic coating. Snap the wiring harness onto the 9-volt battery. Attach one 10-inch wire to one of the wires on the harness by twisting them together. Wrap some electrical tape around the twist.

    • 4

Push an exposed end of one 10-inch wire attached to the wiring harness through the aluminum foil. Tape the wire near the edge of the cardboard to hold it in place, covering the plastic coating, not the exposed wire. Push an exposed end of the other 10-inch wire through the opposite side of the cardboard under the other piece of aluminum foil. Tape on the edge of the cardboard over the plastic coating. One end of this wire is hanging free as is one of the wires of the wiring harness.

    • 5

Wrap the end of the free wire coming from under the tinfoil around the screw on one side of the buzzer. Wrap the free wire from the wiring harness and 9-volt battery around the screw on other side of your buzzer. Tighten the screws. When the two pieces of tinfoil touch each other, the circuit will be complete and set off the alarm.

Hide your alarm under a mat that is not heavy enough to push the two pieces of aluminum foil all the way together.
