How to Disarm House Alarms

The house alarm disarming procedure varies depending on what happened during the armed period. Disarming can occur after no events; after an alarm and with all zones ready; after an alarm with one zone still disturbed; when there's been no alarm but the system has a trouble report; and when there has been an alarm and there is a trouble report.

Instructions

    • 1

Disarm the house alarm--when there have been no events--by pressing the "Off" button and entering your secret code. "Ready" will appear on the display. The "Armed" indicator will go out. The system is disarmed.

    • 2

Check the display panel for more information. If the "Ready" message alternates with "Ready Memory," that means there's something in the alarm's memory. Click the "Show/OK" button to see the memory event. In this case, the display will tell you which zone was compromised and that it has reset okay.

Check the display panel again. "Not Ready" alternating with "Not Ready Mem" tells you that one or more zones are still disturbed after an event. A door is open or a window broken, maybe. You can press the "Show/OK" button to get further details, and you will have to correct the issue before arming the system again.

Check the display again. If you see "Ready" alternating with "Ready TRBL" and the "Armed" light has gone out but there are multiple beeping sounds every minute, you will need to identify the trouble. This will usually be something to do with a low battery on one of the sensors or no activity has been received from a sensor over a predefined period. Another issue can be system trouble like a failed phone call to the monitoring station. The instruction book will tell you how to identify a trouble message. The alarm system will be disarmed, however.

Check the display for an alternating message of "Ready" with "Ready TRBL" and "Ready Memory." That means there's a specific event in the memory you can check out. Click "Show/OK" to see the event. The system will be disarmed, though.
