GeoVision surveillance systems come with special video cards used to connect the camera to the networking computer so that video images can be retrieved and monitored. The main problems involving the system have to deal with the installation process, as well as the video viewing system. The most common issues include “Cannot Find KeyPro,” “INDEO Codec missing” and “Error 100065” for installation problems, and the absence of footages showed on the screen even if the program and the camera are already installed.
For problems such as “cannot find KeyPro” and “INDEO Codec Missing,” focus on the drivers. GeoVision uses a BT878 chipset which, even if its drivers have already been installed, are still not recognized by the Windows operating system, thus the appropriate drivers should be manually reinstalled in order for the surveillance system to work. At the same time, the GeoVision video card also uses an Indeo Video 5.1 patch file for wavelet compression, and this patch should be downloaded and installed.
Another common problem encountered by users of GeoVision products is the prompting of “Error 10065.” In this case, the network between the camera and the server is not connected or has been broken; they have to be linked together once again in order to start functioning properly.
One prominent problem with the GeoVision video capability is when no video images appear on screen despite the card being properly installed. To solve this issue, manually adjust the settings.
It is important to check the kind of video card used by the computer, since GeoVision products are quite meticulous when it comes to hardware-software compatibility. For cards such as GV650, 750 and 800, it is important that the chipset used on the motherboard is not of VIA, otherwise the program will not work. Those using the GV600 card should use version 5.301 and later programs, while hyperthread computers must use 5.302 and above programs.
