Switch on a light in the house to be sure that the power failure is not system-wide.
Look in the electrical circuit box for flipped breaker switches and return them to the up position.
Check that all wires are properly connected from the system to the transformer.
Open the cover of the alarm’s control panel on the front of the system and punch in the four-digit Master Code with the keys with red numbers.
Press the button marked Clock Set. Press the buttons marked Hours and Minutes until you have reached the current time.
Push the button marked Done and close the control panel’s cover.
Press the button marked System Status two times and listen for the system message.
Press on the button marked Disarm to erase a past alarm still registering in the system, if the message is about a specific alarm location.
Check that all the doors and windows are firmly shut if the message tells you to that a particular location is open.
Find the indicated sensor and replace the battery when the system indicates that a sensor needs one.
Listen to the phone for an active dial tone if the message tells you that you have a Failure to Communicate, because this concerns the alarm’s ability to contact your monitoring agency. Make sure that the phone cord is still in connection with the phone jack and with the alarm’s control panel.
Test the sensor in question when the system indicates that one is in trouble by pressing the buttons for your personal four-digit master code and then pushing the button marked Test.
Listen as the system gives a list of house sensors and tells you which one needs to be tripped.
Trip the specific sensor according to the location announced: Open the window or door, tap gently on the glass or cross the motion sensor’s view after letting it rest for five minutes.
