Wireless Deadbolt Advantages

Wireless deadbolt security systems aren't what they sound like at first. A wireless security system functions by putting several connection points throughout your home that monitor when doors and/or windows are opened and when one is breached. The door monitors are connected to the deadbolts in the door, and the deadbolt is where the primary sensors realize if a door is functioning normally or if it's been kicked in. While complicated, these systems have a number of advantages.
  1. Low Profile

    • One of the main advantages of a wireless deadbolt system is that it's very low profile. In this type of security system the sensor is actually inside the door's lock. This means that there aren't any wires snaking over the house to give away how your home is protected. Additionally, because the sensors are wireless there's no worry about accidentally cutting wires or disconnecting the system because you're doing home repairs or some other maintenance where wires would be a major inconvenience.

    Security

    • While a security system is meant to keep your house constantly watched, the security system may be vulnerable to tampering. Wired systems may leave power lines or access wires exposed on the outside of the house, and those can allow talented individuals to break the security system. Wireless systems don't have any exposed wires, and the deadbolt sensors are actually inside the door. Since they're so relatively small and concealed, it means that accessing those sensors to compromise the system is nearly impossible to do with any sort of physical tool.

    Locking Mechanism

    • Some wireless deadbolt security systems also have a system for unlocking doors to the house. When the number pad is outside on the door (or if the pad is on a wireless device like a garage door opener) the homeowner can actually unlock their doors without a key. This feature is quite expensive, but when the proper code is entered the deadbolt locks will turn back and allow the home owner access to the door the code was punched in at. This can be a major advantage for homeowners that don't want to leave copies of their keys laying around.
