How to Connect a Telephone to a Security System

Home security systems with a phone-dialing capability allow you to call a neighbor, family member or 911 in the event of an emergency. This is the most important feature on your security system. Some alarm systems allow you to pre-program up to three or four numbers, and others may include automatic dialing to police and medical personnel. Before you try to connect your alarm to your phone, make sure the two are compatible with each other. You can consult the user manual that came with your alarm system to know whether your security system and telephone will work with each other.
