How to Set First Alert Timers

First Alert alarm systems help monitor windows and doors and let the household know when somebody is trying to break into the house. You can set a timer that controls how long your device is on and how much energy it uses. This timer is useful for saving energy. For example, you can set it to automatically turn on while you sleep but turn off while you are awake and in the house. Setting the timer can also be useful for long vacations.

Instructions

    • 1

Close all windows and doors in your household. Open windows or doors will make the system unready to operate. The system will automatically check for open areas if you press the "Ready" button on the front of the system.

    • 2

Input your security code and press the buttons on the system to set your timer. Rotate the dial on the front of the unit to set the a.m. or p.m. time. The light next to the dial turns on when it is set for p.m.

    • 3

Press the "Time Set" button and rotate the dial to change the time displayed on the LED underneath the dial. This represents the time your system will turn on. Press and hold the "On/Off" button to set the time.

    • 4

Rotate the dial to set the time you want the system to turn off. Continue holding the "On/Off" button until you have set the time. Release the button when you are finished.

    • 5

Enter your security code when you want to leave the house. This allows you to leave without triggering the alarm. Closing the door will rearm the alarm system and your timer.
