How to Replace an ADT Motion Sensor Battery

An ADT Motion Sensor is a home alarm system which is monitored at the ADT service center. Although ADT Motion Sensors run off the main electricity, they come equipped with battery packs in case of electricity failure. If the battery begins to run low, the alarm may malfunction. The ADT service center will usually notify you if the batteries have run low, although regular checks should be performed every six weeks. Changing the batteries is a simple process which does not require any technical knowledge.

Instructions

    • 1

Squeeze the plastic catches at the side of the alarm's cover. This will allow you to remove the cover from the ceiling mount. Place the cover down where it will be safe.

    • 2

Remove the batteries from the alarm, after waiting 90 seconds for any excess charge to be diminished.

    • 3

Replace with new batteries, ensuring they are positioned in the correct alignment.

    • 4

Return the cover to the ceiling mount and click it back into place. There should be a light or other means of determining that the replacement has been successful, although it varies from model to model.
