Ensure that the security system is off so you can open doors and windows without setting off the alarm. Open a window that is being protected by the security system. Remove the screws in the sensor plate from the underside of the window with a Phillips screwdriver. Remove the screws from the sensor module plate on the window sill in the same manner. If a wireless module is connected to the sensor module plate, remove the screws holding the wireless module to the wall beneath the window sill with the Phillips screwdriver. If there is no wireless module, remove any staples, clamps or hooks holding the wires to the wall, or along the baseboard of the wall, that are attached to the sensor module plate -- you can use needle-nose pliers for this.
Repeat this procedure with any other window that is being protected by the security system.
Open a door that is being protected by the security system. Remove the screws in the sensor plate that are on the edge of the door, using a Phillips screwdriver. Remove the screws from the sensor module plate on the edge of the door frame in the same manner. If a wireless module is connected to the sensor module plate, remove the screws holding the wireless module to the wall next to the door frame with the Phillips screwdriver. If there is no wireless module, remove any staples, clamps or hooks holding the wires to the wall or along the baseboard of the wall that are attached to the sensor module plate. You can use needle-nose pliers.
Repeat this procedure with any other door that is being protected by the security system.
Disconnect any free-standing motion sensor alarm modules that are plugged into wall outlets for power. Remove the screws holding the modules onto wall brackets with a Phillips screwdriver. Remove the wall brackets with the Phillips screwdriver. Unscrew the wiring attached to the modules with the Phillips screwdriver -- if a wireless module is being used, unscrew the wireless module from the wall. Remove any staples, clamps or hooks holding the wires to the wall, or along the baseboard of the wall, that are attached to the motion sensor alarm or the wireless module. Use needle-nose pliers.
Disconnect the security system control panel's power cord from the wall electricity outlet. Unscrew the panel from the wall with a Phillips screwdriver if it is wall-mounted. If the control panel is plugged into the telephone line for calling an emergency number, disconnect the telephone cord from the "Tel" output on the control panel and the "Tel" input on the corded telephone. Remove the telephone cord from the "Tel" input on the control panel and insert it into the now vacant "Tel" input on the corded telephone.
Temporarily cut the power to the electric line that an outdoor alarm is connected to. Pulling the appropriate fuse or tripping the appropriate circuit breaker on the fuse box will take care of this. Place a ladder against the wall where the alarm is located. Unscrew the alarm from the cover plate on the wall with the Phillips screwdriver.
Unscrew the cover plate from the wall with the Phillips screwdriver. Unscrew the wires from the screws on the back of the alarm with the Phillips screwdriver. Unscrew the screws on the electrical junction box that was installed in the wall and was covered by the alarm -- use the Phillips screwdriver. Unwind the electric wires connected to the alarm from the screws. Screw the screws back in. Place the cover plate back over the electrical junction box and reattach the screws. Return the power to the electric line.
