Purchase a separate PC or Mac computer to be designated as the operating component for your home-security system. Make sure the computer is up to date and has a hard drive with extra memory. Situate it in a secure and hard-to-reach location.
Buy a state-of-the-art home-security software package that will be downloaded to your computer. It will be used to wirelessly connect to each security device that will be part of your home-security system. Connect the receiver and pick which overall channel frequency on which the wireless devices will be running. Calibrate the software to meet your requirements.
Decide which discreet security devices you want to be part of your home-security system. Make sure these devices can connect to the wireless frequencies that you have chosen. The security devices will consist of video cameras, motion detectors, glass-breaking and door/window-opening sensors, alarm system, fire detectors and portable microphones.
Shop for these security devices at both spy shops and security hardware stores either in person or online. Given the discreet nature of the security devices, it may be easier to find all that you need at a spy shop since they will specialize in selling video cameras, motion sensors and detectors, alarms and microphones that are designed to camouflage their true form. For example, you can have wireless video cameras made in the form of a mirror, fire detector, clock or radio. You can also have wireless motion detectors and movement sensors that are shaped like small, round objects, which could blend with the walls and windows. Outdoor motion detectors can also take the shape of lights, fake stones and other types of typical outdoor house objects. A wireless microphone can be also be camouflaged in a similar typical object that will hide its true form, as well.
Set up the purchased devices and alarm system. Handle any power issues that each device might have. Make sure they are either plugged into an outlet or that they contain a long-lasting battery.
Test your discreet computerized home-security system, and make sure each device is working properly.
