How do I Replace an Ademco 4100 Alarm Keypad?

The Ademco 4100 uses a keypad interface to control the alarm. These keypads are mounted on the walls of your home for easy access. It is possible for the keypads to become damaged or wear out. A non-functioning Ademco keypad is typically replaced in a matter of minutes.

  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Wire cutters
  • Electrical tape

      Open your fuse box. Locate the fuse that powers the alarm system, and slide it to the "Off" position.

      Check the display to ensure no power is going to the alarm.

      Remove the screws on the corners of the front of the keypad with the Phillips screwdriver.

      Lift the keypad off of the wall mount; expose the wiring running from the back of the keypad to the wall. Take note of the colors of the wires.

      Clip the keypad wiring with your wire cutters. Place the old keypad aside.

      Cut the wiring at the back of the new keypad. Allow 3 inches of wire to extend from the back of the keypad.

      Strip the ends of the wires coming out of the wall. Strip the wires coming out of the back of the new keypad.

      Twist the ends of the matching wires together to make the connection.

      Wrap electrical tape around the exposed wiring. Fit the keypad in the wall mount.

      Replace the screws and turn on the fuse.
