How to Program Security Lights

Security systems can become a nuisance if they aren't programmed properly. On the one hand, they provide protection in the way of light and motion detectors, so that you can expose strangers who have entered the proximity of your home. However, on the other hand, they can produce false triggers or false alarms. Rather than alarming your neighbors every time you step foot onto your property, program your security system properly to ensure the outdoor perimeter of your home is safe and secure.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn the range dial counterclockwise to decrease the range control of the security system. The range dial controls how far the security system will detect motion.

    • 2

Turn the range dial clockwise to increase the range control. he higher the range control, the more likely that false trigger will occur, which means that the device will pick up on small children and pets.

    • 3

Reposition the security device in the opposite direction of interfering items such as dryer vents and air conditioning units to avoid false triggers.

    • 4

Turn the "On Time" setting to the left or "Test" position to activate the light for five seconds only when the sensor detects the movement of someone approaching.

    • 5

Move the sensor up or down to determine the range zone.

    • 6

Slide the "Lamp Mode" to the "normal" position and set the range to the middle position.

    • 7

Walk around in front of the sensor and stop when the light turns off. Wait for the light to turn and walk to determine the range of the security device. Adjust the device as needed to increase or decrease the range.
