Turn off the circuit breaker to the fire alarm wires. If you are unsure which circuit breaker it is, turn off the main circuit breaker. Turning off the main circuit breaker will turn off power to the entire house.
Twist the black wire from the electrical box and the black wire from the alarm together, and at the end, screw on a wire nut. The electrical box is the box set into the wall or ceiling that delivers power to the alarm.
Twist together the red wire from the electrical box and the red wire from the alarm and screw on a wire nut at the end.
Follow the same procedure with the white cable from the electrical box and the white wire from the alarm. Again, screw a wire nut onto the twisted end. Not all alarms will have a white cable if they are in a commercial setting. If this is the case, just connect together the remaining color wires from the alarm with the appropriate color cables from the electrical box.
Turn on the circuit breaker and test the alarm by pressing the test button. If the alarm does not sound, inspect to see if any of the wires came apart.
